none of this info from Mapleguard is correct.
1. building permits and inspections would add 1% to the cost of construction – not 10%
2. this is not factual, what is being considered allows for more flexible processes for owner-built homes
3. plumbing and electrical work do not need to be done by certified trades – owners can still do their own plumbing and electrical and there is no list of “approved” tradespeople that must be used
4. inspections do not limit an owners recourse on bad construction including on the RDN if inspector is negligent
5. having building inspection helps ensure that work is done properly – an added level of protection to the owner

Inspection only applies to new construction started after implementation of the expanded service. Buildings completed and/or underway prior would not be affected.
