Wildfire Resiliency Update

Greeting Residents, This past week CMRA directors met with representatives of the RDN and our Dashwood Fire Department in order to get an update on our fire resiliency plans. A presentation was made by the RDN which is shared below. Contact information is included should anyone have specific questions on topics covered by this presentation. The CMRA recognizes the importance of this topic and we will continue to engage with government as we approach another fire season. https://www.meadowoodresidents.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/CorcanMeadowood-Residents-Assoc.-Feb-28-KF.pdf

There are a number of things we can all do to lessen our risk. One of the easiest is to ensure we stay informed by signing up with Voyent alert. You can do that at this link… https://www.rdn.bc.ca/voyent-alert

Please be aware weve also been given notice of a planned prescribed burn at the Dashwood Gravel Pit located at Highway 19 and Larkdown Rd. This burn will be three hectares in size and is expected to occur in April. The primary purpose is to remove invasive species, maintenance at the site and live fire training. More information on prescribe burning can be found at this link… https://news.gov.bc.ca/factsheets/prescribed-burns-reduce-wildfire-risks
