You are likely aware that there is a Boundary Study underway for Area F. The purpose of this study is to determine which boundaries make the most sense to potentially incorporate (new municipality) vs leaving out. (Remain Area F) Importantly all of the proposed areas for potential incorporation are on the other side of the Little Qualicum River and comprise in part the communities of Errington, Coombs and Whiskey Creek. So our area (Meadowood) is not proposed to be a part of this. We, along with a number of other areas around these new proposed boundaries would remain part of Area F.
This boundary study will likely but not necessarily be followed by an incorporation study to determine the financial feasibility of any new municipality. This study, if it occurs, will give everyone a much better sense of how realistic (or not) all of this is. The CMRA has not taken a “position” on this rather we are observing and paying attention on behalf of our membership. We encourage all of our neighbours to enthusiastically participate in our governance. This does potentially effect us even without being inside the new proposed boundaries. At the link you can access all the background materials. There is one more meeting residents can attend (even if you live outside of the proposed areas) on Tuesday April 13th 6:30 PM at the Activity Centre of the Coombs Fairgrounds.
The CMRA will continue to update as this progresses. Stay tuned!
